Test Automation Architect – Sympa

We are now looking for an experienced 

Test Automation Architect  

to join our team in Vantaa/Lahti to create and implement a test automation strategy and roadmap to ensure highest quality of our cloud service. You will carry a key role in the Engineering organization. 

Our development team has grown rapidly in the last few years and comprises currently of over 40 people. Having a key role in the Engineering organization we expect you to take high-level decisions and help provide the direction that helps make Sympa a global HR solution.

Your responsibilities include 

  • Creating a test automation strategy and a technical roadmap related to test automation  
  • Designing a test automation architecture that fits optimally Sympa software development  
  • Selecting and rolling out a suitable test automation framework for the quality assurance of a modern global SaaS based cloud web service
  • Providing technical leadership and strategic quality assurance directions across the Engineering organization 
  • Planning, designing and implementing changes to enable continuous automated testing for Sympa’s solutions. 
  • Setting up quality gates to our DevOps pipelines. Ensuring that best practices are widely used within the Sympa quality assurance. 
  • Harnessing creativity and taking initiative to improve product testing coverage and effectiveness for the entire team 
  • Being actively part of POC’s, performance testing as well as other demanding quality assurance topics
  • Actively collaborating with Sympa DevOps and Development teams to get our quality standards and practicalities to the next level 
  • Working in close collaboration with Sympa’s Software Architect and quality assurance group 
  • Using the latest technologies, tools, and frameworks hands-on 
  • Challenging your problem-solving skills every day in a flexible and agile working culture 

As an ideal candidate we value 

  • 8+ years of experience in test automation or software development with web-based software 
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes 
  • Experience in open source tools with exposure to the following is a plus: Selenium, Specflow, Nunit, Xunit, GIT, Robot Framework / Cypress 
  • Experience from performance testing tools like JMeter or Gatlin
  • Good coding skills and understanding of best practices on at least one programming language such as Python, C#, Groovy 
  • Ability to write code/scripting in languages like XML, JSON, SQL, MongoDB, JavaScript 
  • Experience with Cloud computing/Elastic computing across virtualized environments 
  • Experience in Azure and/or AWS and an enthusiasm for cloud platforms 
  • Good understanding of CI systems, for example Azure DevOps, Bamboo pipelines, Jenkins
  • Understanding of database technology such as SQL or MongoDB 
  • Experience from C# and .NET frameworks is seen as an advantage 
  • You are a proactive, analytical and passionate problem-solver 
  • Sympa thrives on teamwork – You are a strong team player! 
  • Fluency in English, other languages are considered a plus. 
  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Computer Science/ Engineering or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience.
